CFCA OPS is a sub-section of the California Fire Chiefs Association dedicated to Operations Chiefs and the special issues they face in leading firefighters in their all-risk emergency response mission.We are a single voice for OPS Chiefs from every corner of the State of California.
The OPS Section has released the speaker line-up and program for the 2012 Fire Service Leadership Summit, March 11-14, 2012 at the Embassy Suites Moneterey Bay.The program's fifth year promises to be the best conference yet!www.fireserviceleadership.org

WHO IS THE CALCHIEFS OPS SECTION?The Operations Chiefs Section of the California Fire Chiefs Association (CalChiefs) is comprised of fire service professionals representing organizations with varying and diverse service areas. Members of the Operations Chiefs Section represent career, combination, and volunteer fire agencies and the operational concerns of those organizations.It is a dynamic group committed to maintaining and improving the effectiveness and safety of all risk emergency responders.Our Section is dedicated to those who implement the mission of the fire service every day.We are a single, unified voice for Operations Chiefs throughout the State of California.OUR MISSIONTo work effectively with our members, partner Sections, and affinity groups to solicit ideas for the improvement of the California Fire Service and to disseminate information that prepares firefighters to fulfill the mission.OUR VALUESThe CalChiefs Operations Chiefs Section is committed to promoting and safeguarding the founding values of our profession:-Commitment to Excellence -Compassion -Humility -Honor -Integrity -Protection of the Public Trust -TrustworthinessOUR WORK IN SUPPORT OF CALCHIEFSThe Operations Chiefs Section recognizes its role as a subsection of the CalChiefs organization. Executive Board

The CFCA OPS Section Executive Board is made up of elected leadership that represents the entire State of California. Committees

The CFCA OPS Section places special emphasis on serveral issues critical to the mission of the California Fire Service. Those issues are represented by standing Committees and Taskforces composed of Section members and key stakeholders.These subgroups are:CFCA OPS Labor/Management TaskforceThe Labor Management Taskforce is tasked with developing stakeholder partnership to build meaningful, long-lasting, labor management relationships founded on principles of collaboration, team work, and service to the community.CFCA OPS State/National Legislative TaskforceThe Legislative Taskforce is tasked with monitoring state and federal regulations that create rulings with impacts to fire operations.CFCA OPS Safety, Health, and Survival CommitteeThe Firefighter Safety, Health, and Survival Committee is tasked with addressing issues related to firefighter safety, health and survival in coordination and collaboration with other national organizations and stakeholders within the State.CFCA OPS Credentialing and Qualification CommitteeThe Credentialing and Qualification Committee Committee is tasked with conducting an in-depth analysis of the current CICCS process and providing recommendations for future credentialing and qualifications programs.CFCA OPS Emerging Trends and Deployment Analysis CommitteeThe Emerging Trends and Deployment Analysis Committee is tasked with reviewing newly released reports impacting fire operations and provide a synopsis of key issues relevant to the California Fire Service.Any OPS Section member interested in more information about any of these workgroups or in applying to serve on them should CLICK HERE to submit a statement of interest.

WEBCONFERENCING BRINGS THE OPS SECTION TOGETHER

ReadyTalk Launches in July for Section Meetings
The July 26th, 2011 Regular Business Meeting brings with it the launch of ReadyTalk Webconferencing for Section Meetings."The new technology will allow our membership throughout the State to participate in meetings, share documents, view presentations, and get involved in ways that were not possible for us in the past." Said OPS Section President Steve Vucurevich."Two years ago we announced that OPS was becoming one statewide Section that would give OPS chiefs a single unified voice on critical issues. The use of ReadyTalk to bring our membership together and give them a new avenue to participate takes our original vision and makes it a reality." Said OPS Section Immediate Past President Nathan Trauernicht.Invitations for Readytalk will be sent to current OPS Section members in the month of July.

CFCA OPS Partners with IAFC for OPSNetlink

The OpsNetlink program is a new resource for operations (ops) chiefs being launched by the IAFC this fall. Subscribers to OpsNetlink will receive weekly critical issue dossiers from the OpsNetlink Research Center, each of which will contain information on a topic relevant to ops chiefs.In addition, all OpsNetlink subscribers will have the opportunity to participate in a secure online community with their peers. This new program is open to both IAFC and non-IAFC members.As the premiere OPS Chiefs Section in the Country CFCA OPS is proud to partner with the IAFC on this project including providing several of our Board members to sit on the Advisory Committee that will be shaping this new offering.OPS Section members will be heavily invoved in contributing on a regular basis and assisting in developing content.This new relationship is further strengthened with the addition of IAFC staff member, Vicki Lee, being added to the CFCA OPS Board of Directors as the IAFC OPSNetlink Liaison.More information about this program will be available in the fall of 2011.
PG&E's Board of Directors recently reached out to the CFCA OPS Section as a stakeholder to review emergency response issues in the wake of the San Bruno gas pipeline incident.The discussion included providing feedback about communication between PG&E and first responders, pre-planning and training for pipeline incidents, as well as response and mitigation strategies.The OPS Section was invited to be an on-going partner with the National Gas Pipeline Association as a subject matter expert in emergency response and is currently working to bring a series of gas pipeline safety workshops to various locations throughout the State of California.
